What is MMA?
MMA stands for mixed martial arts and is also often referred to as cage fighting. MMA incorporates many different fighting techniques, including grappling, striking, and ground fighting, making it a full-contact combat sport.
Is mixed martial arts good for beginners?
You can find MMA classes to suit all abilities so if you are new to the sport, make sure that you look for a beginner’s class where you can learn the foundations of mixed martial arts.
Although MMA is a high-intensity sport, you can train at your own pace and gradually build up your stamina and your fitness levels.
Is MMA training hard?
There is no way to sugarcoat it – MMA training can be gruelling, especially if you want to compete professionally. Once in the cage, you have to be prepared to fight for up to 25 minutes, which can take its toll mentally and physically.
That being said, there are other reasons to learn mixed martial arts, including learning self-defence, improving your overall fitness levels, meeting new people, and having fun.
How to choose mixed martial arts classes near me
Don’t just Google “find a martial arts class” and pick the first one you see. Instead, make sure you take the time to research what types of classes they offer, what experience their trainers have, and what their members have to say about the gym environment.
It can also be a good idea to look for a gym that offers a trial period so you can see if you fit into the gym culture – something that we offer. You want a combat gym that is supportive and welcoming, not intimidating.
